Shilla: Undead Beginner's Guide - Mastering Materialize
Embrace the Undead Life!
You, a fledgling Undead adventurer with an impressive set of stats - 16 Strength, 18 Dexterity, a phenomenal 22 Constitution, 18 Wisdom, a staggering 52 Intelligence, and 20 Charisma - begin your journey in the vibrant world of Shilla! This guide will equip you with the essential knowledge to kickstart your path, focusing on the potent Undead ability, Materialize.
Shilla: Undead Beginner's Guide - Mastering Materialize
This guide focuses on getting started as an Undead character in Shilla and completing the initial quest to kill 69 ghosts in Shaft 1 of the Great Hall. It will walk you through acquiring the key spell, Materialize, and provide some basic combat and resource management tips.
Before We Begin:
This guide assumes you've already created your character and completed the starting quests in the Fountain area.
We'll be focusing on acquiring the Undead's teleport spell, Materialize.
Let's Get Started!
Finding Your Master:
- Head West from the Fountain and accept any quests offered.
- Travel North until you reach a two-way split, then go West twice.
- Here, you'll find your "Master." Speak with them and accept the quest to kill 69 ghosts in Shaft 1 of the Great Hall.
Joining the Creatures of the Night:
Head West once and speak with the representative to join the "Creatures of the Night" guild. This is necessary to learn a crucial spell later on.
Acquiring Materialize:
- The Great Hall has four Shafts (entrances). We'll be venturing into the Southeast (SE) Shaft first.
- Descend the stairs twice, then head North and all the way West.
- In this area, you'll be able to purchase spells. Look for Materialize, the Undead's version of Teleport.
Learning Materialize (Level 1):
- Head back up to the Mausoleum (the building with the Shafts).
- Descend the Southwest (SW) Shaft.
- Eliminate any monsters you encounter and head to the SW corner.
- While exploring, keep an eye out for Juicy Bones. We'll sell these for gold later.
- Once you have enough experience, train Materialize to level 1. This allows you to teleport at any time, including during combat to escape.
- Important Tip: You need to visit the Fountain in order to Materialize there first.
Combat and Resource Management:
Utilize the surrounding areas of the Mausoleum to fight monsters and collect more Juicy Bones to sell for gold. If your health dips below 20-25, don't hesitate to use Materialize to teleport back to a safe area and heal.
Selling for Supplies:
- Navigate back to the SE corner again.
- Head West to the four-way intersection, then go straight South. This should lead you to a shop where you can sell your collected food for gold.
- Our goal is to acquire 7 gold. If needed, you can fight the Bone Thief for food that sells for 3 gold, but be aware this enemy is tougher.
Learning Cause Wounds:
With enough gold, purchase the spell Cause Wounds. Return to the SW corner to learn the attack spell and proceed with the ghost-hunting quest.
Activating Spell Hotkeys:
Ensure the Spell Attack Panel is activated in your settings. Setting up a hotkey for the Spell Attack Panel allows for easier spellcasting. Refer to your game's specific instructions on activating hotkeys and assigning them to desired actions.
Completing the Ghost Hunting Quest:
Now that you have Materialize and Cause Wounds, killing the ghosts in Shaft 1 should be significantly easier. Remember, if your health gets low, use Materialize to teleport back to safety and heal. The SW Shaft is relatively close, so getting back shouldn't be an issue.
Once you've eliminated all 69 ghosts, return to your Master to turn in the quest and claim your reward of 50 gold and 25,000 experience points.
Congratulations!
You've mastered the art of teleportation and completed your first major quest as an Undead in Shilla. Keep exploring, hone your skills, and conquer even greater challenges! This guide serves as a springboard for your Undead adventures. Good luck!
Exterminating the Pesky Rats
Your Master has a new task for you: eliminating a group of pesky Pest Rats. However, before you head out on this rodent-ridding quest, we need to take a slight detour.
A Detour for a Rusty Reward:
- Make your way back to the Southeast (SE) Shaft and descend once more.
- At the bottom, navigate North, then West. Follow this path all the way North until you reach the Thief Armor shop.
- The shop owner has a request for you! He needs someone to visit the mysterious "Wall of Flames."
- Utilize your trusty Materialize spell to teleport back to the Fountain area. From there, head to the Northeast (NE) Shaft and descend.
- Once you reach the bottom of the NE Shaft, travel North and West until you find the "Wall of Flames." Interact with it to complete the shop owner's request.
- Return to the Thief Armor shop owner. As a reward for your assistance, he'll present you with a "Rusty Dagger." Equip it – this trusty weapon will grant you an additional 10 points of damage per attack!
Conquering the Rodent Menace:
Now, armed with your upgraded weapon, you're well-equipped to handle the pesky Pest Rats. Here's a strategy to ensure success:
- Engage the Pest Rats in combat. Utilize your attacks to defeat them (refer to your game's instructions for specific hotkeys or button combinations).
- Should your health dip low during the fight, remember the Life Essence dropped by the Bone Thief. Use it to restore your health.
- If you find yourself running low on food during the battle, don't hesitate to use Materialize to teleport back to the Fountain area and restore your life.
Returning to Your Master:
Once you've successfully exterminated the Pest Rats, head back to your Master to report your accomplishment and claim your well-deserved reward: 50 gold and a whopping 40,000 experience points!
Instructions to Meet the Count
Your Master's New Task: Visit the Count in the Marble Mansion
Here's how to get there:
- Head to the Northwest (NW) Shaft and descend partially.
- Look for a southwest (SW) passage and take it.
- Follow the Dusty Tunnel until you reach the Marble Mansion.
Before You Proceed:
-
Visit the Bounty Hunter and Senior Bounty Hunter to turn in any Bounty Experience you have earned to this point. This will grant you bonus experience to help you train your character and unlock new Bounty Hunting skills.
-
Buy the Underworld Badge from the Adventurer on the 2nd level. Badges are like mini-achievements that offer permanent buffs to your character. They can increase your stats like gold, experience points, and item drop rates.
-
Activate the Daily Quest from the Quest Giver in the 2nd level. Daily Quests offer additional rewards and experience points.
- Walk straight west until you find a way to go up.
- Ascend twice, then navigate to the northern section of the mansion and go up one more time.
- Once you reach the top, you'll encounter the Count. He has a quest for you: eliminate 50 Goblins in the Outskirts.
Reaching the Outskirts and the Gypsy Camp:
Here's how to travel from the Marble Mansion to the Gypsy Camp in the Outskirts:
- Use Materialize to teleport.
- Head to the southeast corner (SE) of the map.
- Travel southwest (SW) and follow the Wet Tunnel path until you see an Up/Down section. Ascend here.
- Follow the Muddy Dirt Road until you have the option to go northwest (NW). Take this path twice.
- Look for a north (N) direction and proceed. (Note: You may need a Charisma of 22 if you're playing a Vampire character).
The Old Farm House and Optional Quests:
Inside the Old Farm House, you'll encounter two NPCs:
- Count's Quest: A Gypsy offers a side quest related to the Count's mission, likely involving eliminating Goblins (mentioned previously).
- Chicken Quest: A farmer offers a separate quest that involves fighting Chickens. You might not be strong enough to complete it yet, so prioritize based on your current abilities.
Chicken Quest and Lich King's Agenda
Chicken Quest First: A Secure Path to Power, with Lich King Integration and Bored Guard Delivery
Building Your Character
Let's cleverly combine the Chicken Quest with character development and initial support for the Lich King. Here's a roadmap to gather those eggs, secure a powerful weapon, and start aiding the Lich King:
- Train Your Skills: Invest time in training your Wisdom to 30. This will significantly enhance your magical abilities and situational awareness, making you a more versatile adventurer.
- Level Up Materialize: Aim for level 3 Materialize. This unlocks teleportation to key locations like Marble Mansion, allowing you to train more efficiently later (faster travel for future quests).
Chicken Quest - Gather 12 Eggs (Guaranteed 500 Gold Reward):
Completing this quest secures a powerful weapon and a guaranteed reward!
- Travel to the Chicken Coop:
- Head to the southeast corner (SE) of the map. (Use Materialize if leveled up for faster travel).
- Travel southwest (SW) and follow the Wet Tunnel path until you see an Up/Down section. Ascend here.
- Follow the Muddy Dirt Road until you have the option to go northwest (NW). Take this path twice.
- You should arrive at the Chicken Coop after these northwest turns.
- Gather Eggs: You should be able to defeat most monsters(on the west side!) here with ease. However, if you need to heal, Materialize back to a safe area (like the Mausoleum) and return. Collect 12 eggs from the Chicken Coop.
- Turn in the Eggs: Return to the farmer who gave you the quest and hand over the eggs.
- Chicken Quest Progress and Guaranteed Reward:
- He'll give you further tasks, likely involving eliminating the Rooster and then the Fox. The Fox might be too powerful right now, so focus on other objectives for the time being.
- Completing the Chicken Quest guarantees a 500 gold reward. This is your ticket to a powerful weapon upgrade!
Maximize Your Potential: Strength or Efficiency?
The 500 gold reward from the Chicken Quest presents an opportunity to significantly boost your character's strength. Head to the Supplies Level in Marble Mansion (northwest corner) and consider these strategic paths:
Harvester's Scythe (Reliable Upgrade)
The Harvester's Scythe (375 gold at 40 Charisma) remains a reliable and cost-effective upgrade. It offers a strong immediate boost in combat power and is ideal if you haven't found enough gold for the strategy below.
Strength Specialization (Charisma at 40)
If your Charisma has reached 40, you can leverage the lower prices of Glowing Rings (125 gold each) to enhance your strength.
- Double Down on Strength: Purchasing two Glowing Rings grants a significant +10 Strength boost, putting you very close to, or potentially reaching, a formidable 41 Strength. You might need to invest some additional training points to achieve the exact 41, depending on your current Strength stat.
- Battle Axe Powerhouse: With your enhanced Strength from the rings and remaining gold, you can directly invest in the powerful Battle Axe (also 375 gold at 40 Charisma). This combination unlocks devastating combat potential for those seeking raw power.
The Choice is Yours
The ideal strategy depends on your current Charisma level and playstyle:
- If Charisma isn't at 40 yet, the Harvester's Scythe offers a guaranteed and cost-effective upgrade.
- If your Charisma is at 40 and you prioritize raw strength, the double Glowing Ring and Battle Axe combo maximizes your combat prowess (requires more gold). However, reaching the exact 41 Strength might require some additional training points.
Ultimately, the choice is yours! Focus on the path that best suits your current resources and playing goals.
Supporting the Lich King
While the Chicken Quest is your priority, keep an eye out for these opportunities to support the Lich King:
Creatures of the Night Guild Quest:
This quest directly aids the Lich King. When you're near the Creatures of the Night guild, complete it to assist their forger. Here's how:
- Head to the Northwest (NW) shaft of the guild.
- Descend to the Southeast (SE) forge.
- Assist the forger with their specific task (details might be unavailable yet).
- Use Materialize to teleport back to a safe area after helping.
- Return to the guild to complete the quest and advance the Lich King's agenda.
Delivering the Crate to the Bored Guard in Marble Mansion:
Part of the Creatures of the Night Guild Quest:
- Travel to Marble Mansion:
- Use Materialize if you have level 3 to teleport directly. Otherwise, head to the northeast corner (NE) of the map.
- Follow the path leading north until you see a grand structure – Marble Mansion.
- Locate the Bored Guard:
- Enter Marble Mansion through the main entrance.
- Go West until you can go Up, then go Up twice, then North.
- Deliver the Crate:
- Approach the Bored Guard and initiate conversation.
- Mention the crate you're carrying for them (part of the Creatures of the Night Guild quest).
- The Bored Guard will accept the crate.
- Return back to the Creatures of the Night Guild to receive your reward.
Remember:
- Prioritize the Chicken Quest for now to secure a powerful weapon and a guaranteed reward.
- Gradually build your character's strength through training and upgrades.
- Use the 500 gold reward from the Chicken Quest to purchase a "Harvester's Scythe" for a significant combat advantage.
- When near the Creatures of the Night guild, complete their quest to assist the Lich King. This quest also tasks you with delivering a crate to the Bored Guard in Marble Mansion (complete both parts).
- Keep in mind that some quests might be more difficult initially. You can always return to them later when you're stronger.
Side Quest/Training Time
Let's take a break from Quests and talk about general things to improve your character and make some gold:
Banking and Badges
- Bank your gold often: Marble Mansion (NW section) is the easiest place to store your gold safely.
- Exploration Badges: On the 2nd level of Marble Mansion, you can purchase badges for explored areas. These badges can offer benefits like increased gold, experience, or teleportation to specific locations.
Daily Quests and the Beach
- Daily Quests: Look for Daily Quests on the 2nd level of Marble Mansion. Signing up for these quests can provide you with nice rewards (e.g., Eagle Tailsman for +150 Life).
- Beach Exploration:
- Materialize to Dirt Road, then go down.
- Follow the path until you see a West/SE split. Go SE and follow that path until you can go up (twice).
- Here, you'll encounter the Elite Monster "Crab Lord." This monster might attack first, but there might be ways to reduce that chance (refer to the Elite Monsters section, if available).
- Defeating the Crab Lord can reward you with a piece of armor (+5 Dexterity) and other armor pieces you can sell for gold.
Life and Bounties
Boost Your Life
A strong Life stat is crucial for surviving in the Wasteland. Here are some ways to reach 100 Life and improve your overall survivability:
-
Complete Bounties: Bounties are a great way to earn experience and gold. Use these rewards to purchase equipment that boosts your Life. Many areas offer bounties, so keep an eye out for hourly and daily opportunities.
-
Attribute Selection: Consider focusing on these attributes during character development as they provide Life benefits:
- Strength (Str): Increases your Life and your carrying capacity, allowing you to carry more gear and resources.
- Dexterity (Dex): While primarily beneficial for spell attack power, Dexterity also contributes to your Life and Fatigue (stamina).
- Constitution (Con): Similar to Dexterity, Constitution enhances your spell attack power, Life, and Fatigue.
Claim Your Rewards
Travel to the locations in the Southeast corner of Marble Mansion to claim the rewards you've earned from completing bounties.
Understanding Attack Formula
For those interested in the mechanics behind spell attack power, here's the formula used:
(Dex / 2) + (Con / 2) + Spell Attack Range
This formula takes into account your Dexterity and Constitution, highlighting their indirect contribution to offensive capabilities alongside Life and Fatigue.
Completing Your Journey: Conquering the Will-o-the-wisp
Having reached 100 Life and honed your skills, you're now prepared for the most challenging tasks. This includes finally conquering the Will-o-the-wisp quest line!
Preparation is Key
- Gear Up: As mentioned before, the Battle Axe acquired from the weapon shop will be a significant upgrade, allowing you to deal more damage to enemies within the Will-o-the-wisp quest.
- Sharpen Your Mind: Don't forget the importance of your increased Intelligence. The additional attack power will be a huge advantage in combat situations.
Facing the Final Challenges
With your newfound strength, you're practically unstoppable. This newfound strength will guarantee completion of the Will-o-the-wisp quest line. The remaining challenges won't stand a chance against you.
Shilla Quest Reminder
Ensure you've completed these crucial tasks before undertaking new challenges for your liege, the Lich King:
- Help the Farmer: Gather or deliver 12 Eggs, then eliminate the pesky Rooster and cunning Fox.
- Goblin Roundup (50 Kills): Report to the Gypsy after purging 50 Goblins from the land. Every goblin slain strengthens the Lich King's dominion!
- Black Arachnid Extermination (35 Kills): Slay 35 Black Arachnids and report to the Count. Completing this quest aids the Lich King's cause!
- Will-o-the-wisp Quest Line (Serve the Lich King - 69 Kills): Diligently progress through this important quest line. Notably, it requires eliminating a specific number (69) of Will-o-the-wisp. Focus on completing its objectives to further the Lich King's goals.
New Gypsy Quests!
The Gypsy has some new tasks for you, loyal servant of the Lich King! Here's a breakdown of each quest:
- Undead Dwarf Disposal (Axe):
- Objective: Eliminate 20 Undead Dwarves using an Axe (your current weapon works!)
- Tip: You can cast spells while wielding the Axe for added offense.
- Reward: 5 Strength - Boosts your physical attack power.
- Will-o-the-wisp Eradication (Spear):
- Objective: Eradicate 20 Will-o-the-wisp with a Spear.
- Location: Obtain a Spear from the Arena by defeating the Weapon Master (easy kill).
- Tip: Equipping the Spear is enough; you can use spells for combat.
- Reward: 5 Wisdom - Enhances your mana pool and spellcasting abilities.
- Arachnid Extermination (Mace):
- Objective: Exterminate 20 Arachnids using a Mace.
- Location: Acquire a Mace from the Arena's Weapon Master.
- Tip: Similar to other quests, equip the Mace and unleash your magical fury.
- Reward: 5 Charisma - Improves your social influence and interactions.
Bonus Note: These quests can be repeated every hour for more rewards!
Level Up Your Skills, Champion of the Lich King!
The time has come to truly hone your skills and become a stronger servant of the Lich King! Here's a breakdown of your training options:
1. Conquer Daily Quests:
Don't underestimate Daily Quests! They may seem repetitive and involve high kill counts, but they offer valuable rewards:
- Powerful Equipment: New gear can significantly boost your combat capabilities.
- Experience Points: Experience helps you level up, unlocking new skills and stat upgrades.
2. Choose Your Training Grounds:
Several locations are perfect for targeted training:
- Outskirts: Encounter a variety of monsters to hone your combat skills overall.
- Arena: Challenge specific enemies to hone your skills against:
- Magician
- Thief
- Weapon Master
- Dusty Tunnel: Practice against specific creatures:
3. Explore New Horizons (Optional):
If you crave a change of pace, embark on a new Dirt Road quest to unlock additional training areas. Here's how you go about it:
- Materialize to the Muddy Road teleport.
- Take the path until you can go southeast (SE), then go SE until you can't anymore, then go northeast (NE).
- Go NE until you see a path opening eastbound. Ensure you have 40 Charisma to access this path.
- Accept the quest from the worker when you walk into the Potato Field.
- Follow the path to the end, then turn around and come back to the worker.
- Go to the shop in Dirt Roads (east on the NE path) and purchase a Harvesting Tool.
- Materialize to Marble Mansion, then find the Skill Trainer 3 spaces north from your spot. Train the Harvesting skill to level 5.
- Go back to the Potato Field with your tool and learned skill. Find a harvesting spot and gather 20 Earthworms. If fatigue slows you down, eat the Potatoes you get from Harvesting.
- Turn in the Earthworms to the worker and gain access to new training areas. You can explore further quests in the "Quests" Section of the Helpsite, but they are not necessary at this point.
By strategically utilizing these training methods, you'll become a formidable force in the Lich King's army. Good luck, and remember, victory favors the prepared!
Prioritizing Power for the Lich King!
With your training well underway, let's focus on maximizing your effectiveness for the Lich King!
Balanced Approach: Attributes for a Powerful Champion
While life points (HP) are crucial, neglecting attack power can leave battles dragging on. Here's a revised approach to your training, incorporating the importance of a well-rounded stat build:
- Constitution (Con) and Dexterity (Dex): Prioritize these attributes! They both contribute significantly to your Life points, making you a resilient fighter. Additionally, they offer a valuable bonus to your attack power, allowing you to bring down enemies faster. Train in whichever of these is cheaper at your current level, maximizing your Life and offensive capabilities.
- Strength (Str): Strength remains a valuable stat for boosting Life points. However, once Con and Dex become too expensive to train efficiently, consider focusing on Strength. This provides a quick and cost-effective way to further increase your Life if the other two stats are reaching their peak affordability.
- Intelligence (Int): Don't neglect Intelligence! While it doesn't directly affect HP, it can enhance your attack power in specific ways depending on your character class. Once you have a solid foundation in Con, Dex, and Str, consider investing in Int to unlock its offensive potential.
Training Grounds (Weakest to Strongest):
As you train to become the Lich King's champion, consider these areas to hone your skills and potentially acquire useful equipment:
- Sewers: Encounter Warriors who drop various weapons you can sell to merchants for extra gold. This is a great starting point to gather resources for your training.
- Slippery Tunnel, Underworld: Test yourself against Werewolves. These ferocious enemies drop Scythes, which you should hold onto as they might be useful in the future. You can also sell their Claws for additional gold.
- Vast Valley: Challenge the Drunken Monks in Vast Valley. While they pose a more significant threat compared to previous areas, they sell weapons that you can sell to merchants for a higher profit compared to what you find in the Sewers.
Prove Your Might: Druids and the Vast Valley
The Druids of Druid Valley and the formidable creatures of the Vast Valley represent a significant step up in challenge compared to previous training grounds. Defeating these powerful humanoids is not only a testament to your growing strength, but it also prepares you for the trials that lie ahead. The Blood Spire, a place rumored to hold secrets and power, requires defeating a certain number of humanoids to gain access. Facing both Druids and the denizens of the Vast Valley will put you well on your way to conquering such challenges.
Daily Quests as a Potential Boost
Eagle Tailsman & Amulet of the Apprentice: Completing Daily Quests might reward you with an Eagle Tailsman (+150 HP) or Amulet of the Apprentice (+50 Wisdom). These can significantly improve your stats while you train.
Summary
- Train the cheaper stat (Con or Dex) to maximize your health and attack power.
- Balance your training by investing in Strength once Con and Dex get expensive.
- Focus on defeating Druids in Druid Valley for tougher training in preparation for the Blood Spire and other challenges.
- Complete Daily Quests for potential stat-boosting rewards (Eagle Tailsman, Amulet of the Apprentice).
- Remember, a strong and resilient champion can also be a swift attacker. Aim for a balanced approach to dominate your enemies for the Lich King! Good luck!
Shilla Quests
As you progress through Shilla, you'll encounter various quests that offer experience, items, and potentially guide you towards the game's objectives. Here's an example of a quest you might encounter:
- Dehydrated Druid: Once you reach 350 life or so, you can attack an Avarial in the Druid Valley. These winged humanoids are formidable enemies, so be prepared for a challenge. Defeating an Avarial might drop a Dehydrated Druid. This strange item seems to be the preserved remains of a vanquished druid. Pick up any Dehydrated Druids you find, as they will be useful later.
- The Count's Request: With a Dehydrated Druid in your inventory, you can embark on a quest that involves the enigmatic Count residing in the Marble Mansion. Travel to the Marble Mansion and seek out the Count. He may offer you a quest in exchange for the Dehydrated Druid.
- The Plague Doctor's Mixture: The Count might task you with delivering the Dehydrated Druid to the Plague Doctor who resides on the first floor of the Marble Mansion, in the southwest corner. The Plague Doctor is an intriguing figure well-versed in strange concoctions. He will be interested in acquiring the Dehydrated Druid for his experiments. If you hand over the Dehydrated Druid, the Plague Doctor will create a special mixture in exchange.
- Back to the Count: Once you have obtained the mixture from the Plague Doctor, return to the Count in the Marble Mansion. The Count will be eager to receive the concoction. Upon giving him the mixture, you will be rewarded handsomely for your efforts.
- Reward: Completing this quest will grant you a significant amount of experience. This quest rewards a whopping 12 million experience points! This is a substantial boost that will aid you in your journey through Shilla.
Shilla Guide - Next Steps (Level Progression)
Having conquered the challenges around 350 life, it's time to push forward! Here's what you can achieve in the next stage:
Gearing Up
-
Rooted Evil (550-600 Life): Once you reach 550-600 life, travel to the far eastern edge of the Cemetery. The formidable creature called Rooted Evil awaits you there, ready for a challenging battle. Defeating Rooted Evil will grant you the next tier of armor you can equip. Any additional armor pieces you acquire can be sold for valuable gold.
-
Higher Quality Food: As you progress, consider investing in better food to optimize your training. A good option is Chewing Gum, available for purchase at the Bloodmoon Spire food shop located on the 5th floor. If you have your "Materialize" skill trained to a higher level, you can teleport directly to the 3rd floor and then climb two floors before heading southeast to reach the shop. While higher quality food might cost more initially, the benefits in efficiency will pay off in the long run.
Stat Optimization
As you delve deeper into Shilla, you might have encountered the recently added spell, Dark Shield. This powerful spell strengthens your defenses, making it invaluable. To leverage spells like Dark Shield effectively, however, you'll need to focus on increasing your Wisdom (Wis) stat. A higher Wis stat directly increases your magical power, making spells like Dark Shield more potent.
Important Note: Charisma (Chr) does not directly affect the power of Dark Shield. However, Chr offers other valuable benefits. A higher Chr stat often reduces the gold cost of purchasing powerful items, including Rings of Bone. While these Rings grant +25 Intelligence (Int) each, Int primarily focuses on increasing the number of attacks you get in Shilla.
Here's a breakdown of the stats:
- Wisdom (Wis): Directly increases your magical power, making spells like Dark Shield stronger.
- Charisma (Chr): Offers indirect benefits like reducing the cost of items that can boost your overall magical capabilities through stats like Wisdom.
Caution Advised: Be mindful while increasing Chr. Remember to heal regularly during training. A single missed heal can lead to death, setting you back in progress.
Understanding Multiple Attacks - Numbers Matter
Here's a crucial concept to remember: Defense is like a shield that helps you take less damage from enemy attacks. In Shilla, some creatures can attack you multiple times in a single round. The higher your defense, the less damage you'll take from each of those attacks.
Total Attack Power (TAP) vs. Defense
-
TAP (Total Attack Power): This represents an enemy's total offensive power, regardless of how many attacks they use in a round. Imagine a Goblin with a TAP of 100.
-
Defense: This stat reduces the damage you take from each attack (Base Average Power or BAP) dealt by an enemy.
Example: Goblin Encounter
Let's see how defense helps against a Goblin with a TAP of 100:
No Defense (0): If you have 0 defense, the Goblin's attacks hit you for their full TAP. Since the Goblin has a TAP of 100, each attack will deal the full 50 damage. In a single round with two attacks, you'd take a whopping 50 damage (1st attack) + 50 damage (2nd attack) = 100 damage!
High Defense (50): Now, imagine you have a defense of 50. Defense reduces the BAP (Base Average Power) dealt by each attack from the Goblin's TAP.
-
Here's the key: BAP = TAP / Number of Attacks. In this case, BAP = 100 TAP / 2 attacks = 50 BAP per attack.
-
With 50 defense, you can significantly reduce the damage from each attack:
-
Damage Taken per Hit = BAP per hit - Defense
-
Damage Taken per Hit = 50 BAP per hit - 50 Defense = 0 damage per hit!
The Key Takeaway
The higher your defense, the less damage you take from each attack, especially against enemies with multiple attacks. By strategically increasing your defense, you can go from taking the full brunt of an enemy's attack to potentially taking no damage at all! This significantly improves your survivability against such enemies.
Shilla Guide - Next Steps: Castle Assault and King's Capture
Conquered the challenges around 550 life? Geared up and ready for the next step? It's time to storm the Castle and capture the King! Here's what you need to know:
Preparation
-
Life: Aim for 700 Life or higher for better survivability within the Castle.
-
Armor Up: Equip your full set of armor obtained earlier.
-
Defense Matters: Maintain a decent level of Dark Shield for additional defense against enemy attacks.
-
Fuel for the Fight: Stock up on food! You'll want enough to potentially complete the Castle run in one go.
Food Options
-
Dehydrated Druids (Cheaper): Available from the Kreens in Druid Valley.
-
Bloodmoon Spire Food Shop (Convenient): Continue purchasing food as you did earlier.
Loot Along the Way
-
Keep an eye out for any weapons you encounter within the Castle. These can be used later or sold for valuable gold.
-
Special Item: Look out for the Blue Amulet dropped by Elite Guards. This Amulet can be traded to the Plague Doctor in the Marble Mansion for a hefty 30 million experience points!
The Final Showdown
Once you reach the heart of the Castle, you'll have a choice:
-
Arrest the King: Subdue the King and escort him to the Lich King for a reward of 60 million experience points!
